Tessa is Literacy Lead at Walliscote Primary School. She has been a teacher in Upper Key stage 2 for over ten years and is very passionate about developing teaching and learning throughout the school in all areas of the curriculum. Throughout her time as Literacy Leader she has been a driving force in developing inspirational writing in both Literacy and the wider context of the broader curriculum.
Currently focussing on the development of spelling across the whole school, Tessa has been working closely with the different teams throughout the school to make spelling a high priority and have seen significant improvements being made. She has developed a love for reading throughout the school community; is very enthusiastic about the planning and delivery of Guided Reading and has supported NQTs and RQTs with deepening their subject knowledge and enjoyment of this area with success.
Tessa has been involved in the Developing Teacher Programme for the last eight years and enjoys seeing teachers and teaching assistant’s classroom practice move from good to outstanding across the school. She thoroughly enjoys her time in the classroom, in school and developing practice within her setting.
