Sian Charles has been an outstanding teacher and leader for 8 years spending many of them working at Bournville Primary school.
Sian has experience working across the primary phases but more recently has focused on leading KS2. Sian currently holds the role of Assistant headteacher and is responsible for developing middle leadership at Bournville. Sian has played an instrumental role in Bournville’s journey towards outstanding. She has expertise in coaching and mentoring colleagues and especially student teachers. Her vast experience in developing ITT candidates has led to many successful student placements.
Sian is responsible for the leadership of Community Cohesion at Bournville and developed fully key aspects of the area including establishing British Values and enhancing the multicultural and diverse ethos of the school. She has initiated many key event days celebrating diversity across the UK. In her role as phase leader she is constantly driving standards and ensuring the best outcomes for all children. She has a keen awareness of quality intervention and how it should be best used to raise standards and improve progress for all children especially target groups such as Pupil Premium.
Sian has an excellent record in developing links with the local community and her work with parents in school has proved an invaluable asset, something other colleagues in school have learnt from.
