Roxanne is currently Deputy headteacher with responsibility for EYFS, Year 1 and 2 and English and Music. She came into teaching seven years ago through the Graduate Teacher program after a brief stint working as a Methodist Minister. She has worked in KS1 and KS2, with responsibilities during this time for Humanities, Music, RE and in developing curriculum co-ordination- middle leadership. She is particularly passionate about developing strategies for promoting high standards of literacy across the curriculum.
In her current role Roxanne is involved in supporting staff to find innovative ways to develop a curriculum which is captivating and promotes a real love of learning in children. She loves working with her team to ensure a high standard of curriculum is being delivered. This is done through regular opportunities for collaboration, discussion and developing of a culture ‘risk taking’. She enjoys exploring and reflecting on latest research and exploring ways to implement this effectively for staff and children and continues to lead CPD for the staff team in her setting. She believes passionately that in taking risks, intentionally trying creative ways of learning and reflecting together – practice improves and is continually evolving. She believes that this leads to standards consistently improving and compliancy is challenged. In her current setting this has lead to improved outcomes and good progress for children, particularly in English. Over the last few years, she has valued enormously opportunities to share practice with colleagues from other settings, believing that her own practice is better for it.
