Description
Designed to enable delegates to explore common misconceptions in fractions and decimals, and the implications for teaching. Delivered by Lorraine Woolen the course will look closely at:
- common challenges and misconceptions held by children in this aspect of mathematics and implications for teaching;
- different models of fractions, including commutativity of fractions as ‘operators’, that is: of 3 equals 3 times
- the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentages.
