Mel Butler has gained experience of EYFS and Key Stage 1 through many roles, first training as a nursery nurse then moving to a TA role and then finally onto to teaching. Mel taught at Bournville Primary school for 12 years before moving to a large primary school in Somerset.

Her teaching experiences are predominantly in EYFS and Key Stage 1 with experience in lower Key Stage 2.

Mel has a vast experience of coaching and supporting colleagues through the DTP program and was previously a member of the Better Learning team at BPS. She has previously been subject leader for Geography and then Eco Schools. In her current school Mel has taken the lead role in developing the PSHE curriculum, delivering staff meetings and whole school assemblies.  Mel is teaching in year 1 and has begun to implement continuous provision across the year group.

Mel is passionate about supporting colleagues through DTP, developing a Growth Mindset and a learning without limits culture in the classroom and beyond and is keen to offer support to colleagues.
