Catrin is Assistant Head at St Peter’s Primary School in Portishead with the main responsibility of teaching and learning across the school. She has had an extensive and varied 20 year career in primary education, working across three different local authorities as well as undertaking lead teacher and advisory work within North Somerset.

Catrin is passionate about ensuring that all teachers have access to high quality professional development in order to become outstanding and fulfilled practitioners who can deliver excellent provision to all pupils.  Over the last couple of years, Catrin has been instrumental in researching, designing and delivering the ‘Expert Teaching Programme’, a whole school lesson study and CPD model, which has significantly improved the quality of provision and outcomes for all groups of pupils across St Peter’s school. It has also had a very positive impact on the growth mind-set culture amongst staff and, the recent teaching school status, awarded to St Peter’s is testimony to a strong, skilled and enthusiastic team.

Over the years, Catrin has enjoyed running training days & INSETs, on different aspects of her specialism of English, and working with teachers, in their own settings, across North Somerset and Somerset to develop different aspects of their practice.  She has a breadth of experience in working with practitioners at different stages of their careers and has mentored many NQTs as well as working with more experienced colleagues and training middle leaders. Catrin’s key areas of specialism include CPD; pedagogy development; curriculum design; English; NTQ mentoring and Music.
